1. What is engine oil?
Engine oil is a mixture of high quality base oils (mineral or synthetic) and additives. The share of additives in the finished product ranges from 5% to 30%. The role of additives is to improve the existing characteristics of base oils and provide new ones
2. Is it advisable to mix mineral and synthetic engine oils?
It is not recommended to mix mineral and synthetic engine oils, because that could lead to chemical reactions which cause changes in physical and chemical characteristics of the oil (gelatinous mass).
3. Which are the criteria for selecting the proper engine oil?
Recommendations of engine or equipment manufacturer, recommendations of the lubricants producer, state and age of the engine.
4. What is the drain period for oil fills?
The drain period is defined by the engine manufacturer, except in older engines, when the lubricant manufacturer may also recommend the drain period.
5. What does the SAE mark on the label mean and what are monograde and multigrade oils?
The most frequently used international classification for marking viscosity grades is SAE J300 (Society of Automotive Engineers from the US). Monograde oils which are used in winter only bear the mark SAE 0W, 5W, 10W…, while those used only in the summer are marked SAE 30, 40, 50… Multigrade oils have better quality and their viscosity changes less with temperature, they are used throughout the year and are marked SAE 10W-30 or SAE 15W-40…
6. What are engine oil specifications?
The quality of engine oils is defined by specifications of lubricant producers’ associations (ACEA in Europe and API in the US), and by specifications of equipment manufacturers, such as Daimler (MB), BMW, VOLVO, MAN, Porsche, etc.
7. How can I know which is good quality oil?
You should always buy oils from a renowned producer (e.g. Oil Refinery Belgrade) from authorized vendors.
8. Which are the functions of the coolant liquid – KORSANTIN?
The main function of KORSANTIN is to remove the heat generated during the combustion of fuel in the engine, to protect parts of the engine from corrosion and to secure that the engine operates safely at low ambient temperatures.
9. Should I dilute KORSANTIN 100 with tap water?
Tap water contains various dissolved gases, salts and some dissolved organic compounds, which could have an adverse effect on the function of KORSANTIN, so it is not recommended to dilute KORSANTIN 100 with tap water.
10. What should I use to wash my windscreen?
